Kaiser Alexander Cucumber (Cucumis sativus)
Kaiser Alexander Cucumber (Cucumis sativus): Heirloom, very early variety whose exact origin is uncertain, it could be either Russia or Germany. It produces fruits up to 20 cm long that display a mottled brown color. Its taste is delicate and a bit sweet, the pulp is crunchy.
The plant resists cold better than other cucumbers thanks to its leathery and thick skin that protects them from parasites and allows for a long conservation after harvest; it should be stored in a cool, dry place. We recommend to treat is as a climber plant.
For consumption, it should be collected when it reaches 15/18 cm, before the skin becomes hard.
For seeds, allow some of the cucumbers to stay on the plant until fully ripe.
