Red Cannellino Bean from Sarconi (Phaseolus vulgaris)
Red Cannellino Bean from Sarconi (Phaseolus vulgaris): this ecotype comes from the Lucanian land that produces legumes, specially highly prized beans; It is grown in the mountain and foothills, among the wooded lands of the Val d’Agri-Lagonegrese National Park where ancient peasant traditions are still maintained. In addition to beauty and taste, they also have thin skin that makes them easily digestible, and provides dishes with a creamy texture. It is a dwarf bean, to be sown from spring to early summer, it matures 70 days after emergence. An Italian excellence.
For some years now, “Seeds Hunters” has been engaged in research aimed at mapping the contamination between ecotypes that occurred during the migrations at the beginning of the last century. This research has focused in the areas comprising the central Apennines and Native American areas between the North West of Mexico and the South East of the United States. This variety helped us define narrower ranges, the research will be posted on the site later this year.
