Hopi Black Dye Sunflower (Helianthus annuus): another precious variety from our “Hopi” selection. A very important flower used by the “People of Peace” to obtain the dye for wicker baskets and ceremonial rattles , those obtained from the Hopi Rattle pumpkin.
The large plant produces a main flower followed by other smaller ones, and it is the very black seeds that give the variety its name. A rare, magnificent flower.
Like the oldest sunflowers, it has a strong melliferous capacity.
