Lao Green Eggplant (Solanum melongena)
Lao Green Eggplant (Solanum melongena): another small treasure from Laos, this green striped round variety: holds the color of the oldest eggplants, comparable to the Sodom apple (Solanum linnaeanum L. ) non edible spontaneous solanacea , a species dating prior to the domestication of eggplants which takes its name from the biblical episode; according to the text, only one plant grew after the fire, a small tree whose fruit was uninviting made of dust and smoke.
The eggplant tiger (Tiger Striped), however, has a great taste, just like its older sister, the Giant from Cambodia, the flesh is utterly white and sweet. The fruit is small, around 10 cm in diameter for about 100 grams sometimes a bit more. The plant is highly productive, large in size, up to a meter in height, it tolerates full sun and hot summers well. A great choice for the garden or the balcony.
