Round Pink Shaded Eggplant - Rome (Solanum melongena): heirloom Italian variety from Lazio. The beautiful fruits that display shades of pink, are large, and slightly ribbed. The pulp is white and its flavour is sweeter and more delicate than common eggplants; this fact makes it suitable for many recipes whilst saving you the work of having to get rid of the bitterness through water.

The variety is widely spread in the Pontine countryside where it was probably selected; It has been heard of since the middle of last century in the areas of Rome and Latina.
