Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Chili Pepper (Capsicum chinense)
Trinidad Scorpion Butch T (Capsicum chinense): awarded the Guinness record in March 2011, 1,463,700 SHU; named after Neil Smith FROM The Hippy Seed Company that got the seeds from Butch Taylor, owner of Zydeco Farm. It is currently the second hottest pepper recognized, other new cultivars could be hotter but not holding a certification such as that of the World Guinness we cannot be sure. It is often said to have been surpassed by the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, the fact is that the average, that is the average of the Butch T and higher than the rival, never entered the Guinness Book. The chilies are the three-lobed and pointed, the skin is smooth and display and intense red, there are no known color variations. Although little known, it is certainly one of the peppers that have contributed to make the race for the hottest one more competitive. Very spicy and a rather neutral flavor, no fruity nuances, pure heat.
