Melone Zatta (Cucumis melo): together with the Moscatello, this Melone is amongst the most ancient Italian, documented as early as the 1600s. With large, lumpy, ribbed fruits, it is also called "Toad Melon" due to its wrinkled skin. The pulp is orange and fragrant, the flavour is earthier and less sweet than modern cantaloupe. The fruits reach 1.5 kg, and turn yellow when ripe. Once picked they do not last too long . A heirloom variety for your garden, a exquisite taste on your table.
