  • Savoy Cabbage from Asti (Brassica oleracea var. Sabauda): Ancient, well-known variety; it is amongst the most tolerant to heat, but it also tolerates low temperatures well, frost actually improves its organoleptic qualities. The plant is large, more demanding than other cabbages; it requires a fertilised soil, frequent weeding and, if cultivated in the periods in which the rain is scarce, constant irrigation. It will, howeverm, provide big cabbages of a nice dark green; it is super tasty and suitable for a wide variety of recipes, it tends to have a more tender texture, and sweet taste. If sown in spring, it should be harvested before the end of the summer; if winter cultivation is preferred, the cycle lengthens while the taste improves. Also, you will not have to deal with the commo phytopatologies of this species that are difficult to stop in sustainable cultivation.
