Piennolo from Vesuvio Yellow Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum)

Piennolo from Vesuvio Yellow Tomato (Lycopersicon lycopersicum): it is one of the oldest and most typical products from Campania agriculture; thanks to careful selection amongst vegetable gardens this ecotype has very important qualities like a solid pedicle attachment, thick skin and high concentration of sugars which makes it suitable for long conservation. Hence the possibility of producing the "Piennolo" which is the typical hanging procedure that is allowed from its the exceptional organoleptic characteristics.

 It displays a particular, intense yellow colour, it is also rich in pigments that enhance the beauty of the fruits; another important characteristic is its slightly sweet flavour, which make them perfect for the preparation of sauces and creamy soups. In addition, it is high in antioxidants, which are beneficial for health.

Rustic and undemanding, it doesn't need much irrigation, so it provides possibility of dry farming.
