Faenza Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus)

  • Faenza Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus): heirloom variety with medium-large fruit of 4/8 kg, with thin and dark-green skin.  when ripe, the pulp is crunchy , deep red, and fragrant with very high sugar content,  that places it at the top of sweetness.

The harvest is scaled from early August to early September (basivally during the hottest period of the year) . By appling the soil mulch with biodegradable plastic film (available on our site), there is a thermal effect, which allows us to anticipate the transplant and benefits the plant in the first weeks of growth.

When the fourth leaf appears, it is a known practice to trim, called scacchiatura,  to favor the emission of uxiliary buds from which to obtain more fruits which, however, should not be more than 3 or 4 per plant, beyond this number it is appropriate to reduce them.

    Variety to be saved.
