  • Bruxel Sprouts (Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera): this variety from Northern Europe is more present commercially than in self-production gardens because of its pedoclimatic demands; it doesn’t tolerate harsh winters or torrid summers, therefore, it is necessary to time the sowing period very well in order to get to a successful harvest, considering it needs about  4 months for ripening, we will sow in February-March (south Italy-warmer), whereas in the northm (colder weather) we can sow from February to August.

They adapt well to greenhouse cultivation, even homemade ones, they do need a good supply of nitrogen and potassium, necessary for the correct development of the plant. As much as it has many needs, it has great organoleptic qualities, widely acknowledged, it is highly productive and ornamental. For experienced growers or for those who take pride on their hard work.
