Seed Saving: expert
Violet Dragon Carrot (Daucus carota)
Violet Dragon Carrot (Daucus carota): this carrot carries the legacy of the oldest carrots, the “originals” from the East that were purple.
The dragon is a fascinating root in both, name and appearance, it has vibrant purple skin, a dark pulp that sometimes turns into orange shades, and has no heart, which makes it very tender.
This is rich in antioxidants and has a spicy flavour; as every carrot, it is biennial, which means that to save the seeds you will have to wait for the spring following the sowing.
