Detroit Beetroot (Veta bulgaris): an ancient variety introduced in the USA at the end of the 1800's, it has since became very popular, expanding even to Europe because of its easy cultivation and early maturation. The root is sweet and blood red, the aerial part is green and the leaves display veins the same colour of the root.
