Tabacchino Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris): this interesting traditional ecotype is typical from Southern Italy; mainly Basilicata, Molise, and Sicily (to a lesser extent).
It takes its name from its beautiful bright-brown colour, similar to fermented tobacco. The plant is rustic, has a bushy habit, and reduced water needs. The bean, of small size, has an ovoid shape and a particularly fine skin which facilitates digestion.
It is easy to grow, and suitable for those approaching cultivation for the first time.
