Nagasaki Long Eggplant (Solanum melongena)

  • Melanzana Nagasaki Long (Solanum melongena): we continue with our series on the Rising Sun. Japan is amongst the top countries in terms of agricultural biodiversity and selection. It gives tremendous focus to organoleptic characteristics, and this variety is no exception. This large eggplant holds an intense black color and has no trace of bitterness therefore it can be eaten raw. It is not suitable for preparations that require long cooking, but it is perfect for fried foods.

    It is a variety particularly suitable for hot-humid climates that tolerates with ease.

    The flesh has a velvety texture, the taste is reminiscent to hazelnut.
