Purple Scorpion Chili Pepper (Capsicum chinese)
Purple Scorpion (Capsicum chinense): this is a hybrid created by Jeanie Y, bit is a cross between the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T and the Purple Bhut Jolokia. The plant is vigorous, the leaves are brown and with Little veins. The fruits` colour changes between dark purple, even black , while growing, to end up a bright red with black stripes when fully ripe. It is that colour contrast that mke it one of the most beautiful varieties, it is also pretty stable and the berries’ size remains homogenous. It is quite spicy, about 1.000.000 SHU; the taste is not particularly fruity, rather flat, a feature probably inherited from the Butch Taylor.
Important: as for many of the chinense species, we cannot speak about ancient seeds, as they are recently selected varieties. However, we keep them in our catalogue because they often bring people closer to cultivation.
