Helios Radish (Raphanus sativus)
Helios Radish (Raphanus sativus): Heirloom variety that was first documented in Czechoslovakia, but most of its history, as in most of yellow radishes, remains unknown. They are small, and round, the skin is thin, firm and boasts a beautiful yellow which is the reason to its name; the flesh is crunchy and firm, it has, however, a surprisingly delicate taste, a bit sweet. It should be picked when still small, so their texture remains creamy, if allowed to grow too much, they become bitter. It is completely edible, even the leaves which have an earthy taste. They are really rare, mainly grown by specific farmers and radhish enthusiasts, they are also really pretty and one of the tasties form the variety, do not miss it!
