Santoreggia - Savoury (Satureja hortensis)

  • Santoreggia (Satureja hortensis): a small annual plant of great taste, strong aroma of pepper and mint, rich in essential oils. It is similar to thyme and sage, can be consumed both, fresh and dried to add flavour to meat and fish, in some recipes it provides a dominant taste to various types of legumes. To be sown spring and consumed from summer to intense cold. It is very easy to cultivate and undemanding for both, soil and water needs. It adapts to all soils but prefers limestone ones. You can also grow it well in pots.
     It is an excellent melliferous, it attracts bees and other pronubi to your garden or balcony.
