  • Serpent Gourd (Trichosanthes cucumerina sub. anguina): extremely rare cucubirtacea, it is really interesting starting with is very particular botanical characteristics: it is a fast-growing climber that produces snake-like fruits, in shape and colour; when ripe, the green gourds of black shades acquire red/orange shades which renders them incredibly ornamental.
    The intense smell of the leaves, similar to other cucurbitacea, such as Ficifolia pumpkins, can give the impression of it not being edible, on the contrary, the fruits hold an extremely  pleasant taste. In the Punjab region of India, where it is original from it is extremely appreciated and the main ingredient of traditional recipes and regional cuisine.
     Its cultivation is simple, it is important to provide a well-mended soil because the plant is vigorous and large.It is
     also massively productive, each plant produces numerous fruits until the first cold, it is strongly macrothermal so the arrival of cold is the limit of production.
