Trombetta Di Albenga Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata)

Trumbetta Di Albenga or Tromboncino Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata): heirloom variety grown in Liguria that can be consumed both, as a zucchini when not fully developed, and as a pumpkin as it reaches full maturity.

Its name derives from the shape that it takes if grown on the ground, which is similar to a trumpet.

However, it is recomended to provide the plant with support or pergola, so the fruits develop vertically, and reach up to 1 mt in length.

The seeds are arranged in the globular terminal area, this causes the pumpkin to be almost totally made of pulp, which is firm and tasty. It is good for salads, grilling (when immature),  stuffing, and cakes (when ripe).
